Agona Swedru Police Command have arrested a 35-year-old farmer at Agona Asafo in the Central Region after he attempted to sell his 2-year-old daughter for 20,000 cedis.
The suspect identified as Kobina Agyeman discussed with his friends his intentions to sell off his daughter in order to start a new life.
His friends who realized how serious Kobina was with his plans reported him to the Agona Swedru Police Command.
According to sources, the police entrapped Kobina Agyeman with an offer in order to get him arrested.
The 35-year-old farmer agreed to take 20,000 cedis after bargaining from 50,000 cedis.
After he received the money, Kobina handed over his 2-year-old daughter to the would-be buyer and was later arrested.
The police have therefore ruled out mental instability as a contributing factor in finding out why he wanted to sell his daughter.
The baby girl has since been reunited with her mother at Agona Asafo and her father is currently in police custody to assist in investigations.
