On August 4, it was reported that a bus driver for the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences allegedly lashed some of the students who were struggling to board the in the morning shuttle with a cane. From the look of things the driver was not happy with the way the students struggled to board the shuttle. He whipped them because the shuttle was full will those outside still struggled to enter. It was right for the driver to do what he did but it was too harsh for him to pull a cane and whip them. The most affected student is a first year midwifery student.

While it may be true that the number of shuttles that convey students to and fro lectures are not enough, students should not be treated in such harsh manner. Student have paid for this transport as part of their fees and yet they struggle in getting the services they paid for and now they are been lashed.
The university authorities to have taken up the matter and the driver will served what he deserves. According to a letter released by the Health Sciences Student's Association (HESA), the Office Of The Provost has made arrangement and there will be a hearing about the case tomorrow.
